good weekend
As usual, S.P.A.C.E. was highly profitable: I sold every copy of THE CLAWS COME OUT that I brought with me.

The drive to Columbus was pretty dicey, as we left just as the snow and freezing rain was starting to make a mess of the roads, but by the time we got near Columbus, things started looking better. The Friday night party at the Monkey's Retreat was a blast--I could have spent hours just going through their longboxes filled with weird and obscure comics--and the show itself was even better.

Chuck from the website Comic Related was there all weekend, taking a million pictures and posting them on his site in real time, which was neat. Here's me, behind my table:

Also, when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Jay Stephens gave a nice plug for my book on his always awesome "Monsterama" blog. I'm totally fired up to draw some more comics. So yeah, good weekend all around.



PS: I have a beard now.

Why does everyone have a beard now? Is it just winter, or is this some unfortunate fashion thing?

Also, someone came in to FP yesterday & asked for The Claws Come Out! BY NAME!

I don't know! Are beards bad? I'm pretty sure mine will be gone once the weather warms up a bit.

Wow the beard really makes you look like Dan Goldman, weirdly. Also now that you have a beard you can be a REAL cartoonist! Everyone will be able to tell you are NOT FOOLING AROUND. Bearded men don't fool when it comes to the funnybooks! IT'S A FACT.

I think the beard and the lumber jack shirt really "man you up". Not that you weren't manly before. But now you really are kicking the manness in a manly way.

I was reading this post and literally yelled to MK in the other room. "I dunno about this beard!" It's just funny cause you have always had such a baby face, and now you look like someone's dad or something.

Okay this definitely proves that we haven't hung out in way too long. The last time I saw you, you didn't look like Ben Roethlisberger (I mean that as a compliment...I think Ben's a handsome guy).

In either case, welcome to the beard club. Mine's been good to me.
